Company Of The Day: Twitter
What?
Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) says that it plans to discontinue Fleets, a format of tweets that show up at the top of Twitter timelines and disappear after 24 hours.
Why?
Twitter has indicated it has not seen a meaningful increase in user engagement via the feature.
So What?
Twitter intends to replace Fleets at the top of timelines with Spaces, its live audio chat room. This makes sense, as audio is emerging as a popular format in the social media space, with startups such as Clubhouse seeing a lot of traction. Twitter stock rose by 1% in Wednesday’s trading.
