New Products to Support Flash

NetApp’s new addition to its Fabric-Attached Storage (FAS) 2000 family of arrays is an entry-level model with up to 432TB of capacity with a starting retail price of $7,500 for 6TBs. This bests NetApp’s earlier mid-entry level product, the FAS2040, which came with up to 136TB of capacity and a starting price of around $8,000.

The new array can now also use 2.5-in solid-state drives (SSDs) along with traditional SAS, SATA and Fibre Channel drives. As demand for SSD arrays picks up it was only a matter of time before NetApp came up with it own offering. Industry leader and arch rival EMC also released its all flash array recently.
